For the the last year, I've been learning how to use alpaca fiber to create beautiful wall hangings. The first step in the process is to wet-felt the fiber. In this case, I randomly chose a dark background and included some lighter greys.
Once you have rolled the fiber into a solid piece of felt, you need to decide what aspects of the fiber you want to accentuate. In this case, if you look you can see the lighter shadows surrounding the angel. The outline of an angel was clear to me. So all I had to do was fill in her details doing needle felt with colored fibers that I had hand-dyed.
Everyone needs an angel in their life!!
This is another wall hanging that I've been working on for quite some time. Its amazing how this piece has continually changed since I first started it. I originally was going to show Heaven and Hell with the cross in between. Much like our lives and the choice that we have to make.
But then I decided that we really only have 1 choice and 1 Savior. The piece cried out to emphasize the price that was paid for our sins.
